Dentures

A denture is a removable prosthesis made to replace missing teeth. Generally dentures are made out of acrylic resin and can be combined with various metals. Dentures improve function, aesthetics, speech, and provide support for facial muscles.

There are two basic types of dentures – full dentures and partial dentures. You can choose depending on how many teeth that needs to be replaced.

Full dentures – A full denture is used to replace all teeth on the upper or lower jaw. The denture includes an acrylic base that looks like natural gums, which then sits over the gums after any existing teeth have been removed.

Partial dentures – A partial denture is a solution when only a few teeth needs to be replaced. They can have either acrylic or metal base with clasps that attach on existing teeth. Partial dentures can be removable or they can be anchored in place by attaching them to dental implants.

Flexible Dentures– Flexible dentures are made with a flexible resin so the denture base has some flexibility. Patients find that this may provide a more comfortable fit and these dentures do not rely on visible clasping.
